Fighting for Peace - 30 Dec 2001 - Anthony Maresco

Presently, the western nations are recent victors of the "Cold War". Many 3rd world nations suffered greatly from "Cold War" military interventions by both the U.S. and the U.S.S.R.; therein are potential terrorists. 

Where are the riches promised those in the 3rd world who sided with our side? Most of it is in the hands western nations - who sold them weapons to fight for freedom (traded for natural resources and/or cheap labor), or in the coffers of defacto (or actual) dictators in their countries. The people are worse now than before fighting our "Cold War".

Give them a Marshall Plan tied to concrete - Federal Republic - objectives, let the people choose their leaders. Even if they choose communism, when/if it does not work they will choose a Federal Republic (...for which we stand...). Either way, they will be our friends once again.

The Eagle in the "Great Seal of the United States of America" holds 13 arrows [symbolizing war] in one talon, but is faced toward the other talon; this talon holds a branch with 13 olive leaves and 13 olive berries - to symbolize the equally great, but more desirable power of peace.
